Over the Winter holidays, Year 11 and 12 Geography and Biology students travelled to Far North Queensland for a six-day Great Barrier Reef Fieldwork Expedition.

Throughout the trip, the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest and local agricultural sites became living classrooms, providing students with valuable opportunities to deepen their understanding of biodiversity, conservation, sustainability and environmental change.

Students took part in a range of hands-on learning experiences, including snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, participating in reef restoration activities, conducting fieldwork at the Daintree Rainforest Observatory and visiting the Pacific Coast Eco Bananas Farm. These experiences allowed students to observe key geographical and biological concepts in action while developing practical fieldwork skills and gaining insight into the environmental challenges and management strategies shaping these unique ecosystems.

The expedition provided an authentic learning experience, enabling students to connect classroom theory with real-world environments while exploring one of the world's most significant natural wonders.
