Big School Experience for Pre-School's
An age-appropriate excursion designed for pre-schoolers to build familiarity and confidence
Invite your Pre-Kindy class to enjoy a school-style visit in our Kindy learning spaces, guided by College staff and tailored to suit young children.
Thomas Hassall Anglican College welcomes pre-school centres to take part in a Big School Experience designed for Pre-Kindy children. This visit supports school readiness by giving children a calm, positive introduction to school routines, learning spaces and guided group activities.
There is no cost for participating centres. As a condition of involvement, we ask that no cost is passed on to the child or their family for attendance.
What the day looks like
Bus pick up and drop off (optional)
The College can provide bus transport for your visit. If selected, a Thomas Hassall Anglican College Coach/Staff Member will come to your childcare centre to pick up your group and will return your class to your centre after the excursion.
- Pick up time will be confirmed once your Expression of Interest is received and your visit is scheduled
- The time you select is the time you are expected to be at the College so please allow for travel time
- Transport availability is limited and is confirmed with your booking details
On arrival at the College
Your class will be welcomed by a College staff member who will lead the session. Your educators remain with the group and are responsible for supervision throughout the visit, including behaviour management, toileting and any individual support needs.
Session flow
- Welcome and settle in with a short tour of the Kindy area
- Kindy classroom experience: choose story time, a simple craft, or guided free play
- Lunch time: we recommend children bring packed lunchboxes to experience a school lunchtime routine
- Themed activity session: choose Mini Sports, Dance and Movement, or Mini Maestros (all adapted for Pre-Kindy age)
- Each child receives a colouring book to take home about their visit

Each themed session is tailored for Pre-Kindy children and is led by a College staff member.
Themed activity options
Craft and Create
A hands-on craft session designed for Pre-Kindy children, using simple materials and clear steps in a calm, supportive setting.
Children will:
- Follow a short, guided craft activity with help from College staff
- Practise fine motor skills through cutting, pasting, colouring and sticking (age-appropriate)
- Create a take-home piece connected to a simple theme or story time
Mini Sports
A playful movement session that builds confidence and coordination through simple games and beginner skills.
Children will:
- Join warm-up games and simple movement activities
- Practise beginner ball skills using soft equipment
- Take part in small-group games focused on listening and taking turns
Dance and Movement
A beginner-friendly movement session using music, rhythm and simple steps in a supportive setting.
Children will:
- Follow easy movement prompts and rhythm games
- Learn a short routine suited to pre-school age
- Take part in a relaxed “show and share” moment as a group
Mini Maestros (Music)
A calm, inclusive music session that supports listening skills and participation through song and rhythm.
Children will:
- Join sing-along songs with actions
- Play rhythm games using simple percussion (where available)
- Explore sound concepts such as loud/soft and fast/slow
Fill out an Expression of Interest
To prepare properly, we ask centres to submit an Expression of Interest so we can organise the appropriate Instructor, Coach, or Tutor for your chosen option. Once received, we will confirm the date allocated to your centre and send through the final details.
