PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The College’s Tennis Program is designed to provide a comprehensive platform for developing technical skills, fostering a love for the sport, and preparing students for competitive pathways. With a focus on core fundamentals, physical fitness, and mental resilience, the program supports players at every stage of their tennis development.
Training sessions emphasise precision, agility, and game strategy, enabling students to build confidence and improve their on-court skills. Participants in the program are taught perseverance, humility, and respect, fostering both athletic and personal growth.

HEAD OF PROGRAM
Stewart Whicker
Stewart Whicker has over 25 years of experience as the Head Coach and Programme Director at Marconi Tennis Academy, where he has coached over 20,000 students, ranging from beginners to national titleholders. As a Tennis Australia Master Club Professional, Stewart focuses on building strong technical foundations, fostering a love for the game, and helping students develop resilience and adaptability.
The program provides clear pathways for growth, from school representation to external competitions, ensuring athletes develop both skill and confidence while enjoying the lifelong benefits of tennis.

Program Structure
Junior School
Afternoon Development Program
Open to all Junior School students, this program introduces foundational tennis skills such as stroke technique, footwork, and court positioning in a fun and supportive environment
Senior School
Grading and grouping
Students will be grouped based on skill level and performance. Training focuses include:
- Core techniques such as grip, swing, paths and shot accuracy
- Court awareness, strategic decision-making, and match play tactics
- Fitness and conditioning to enhance agility, speed and endurance
