How is the College managed?

Thomas Hassall Anglican College is governed by a ‘College Council’ who are focussed on strategic matters including capital planning, risk compliance and monitoring, as well as oversight of the operation of the College.

The Council is appointed by, and accountable to, the Board of The Anglican Schools Corporation. The Council appoints the Principal to whom is delegated day-to-day management and operational responsibility of the College. The College is accredited by NESA (formerly the Board of Studies).

Mrs Karen Easton is the third Principal of the College and leads an executive team responsible for the Learning and Teaching, Finance, Business Operations and Marketing of the College.

What is Prep?

Prep (Pre-Kinder) is a unique beginning for your child’s education. Our Prep program is deliberately designed to prepare preschool-aged children with the necessary skills for Kindergarten. Our purpose in Prep is to enable every student to flourish in our beautifully appointed classroom spaces where every child is encouraged to explore, to think creatively and encouraged to engage with the foundations of excellent learning. Our program is responsive to the needs, interests and developmental levels of each child.

Prep is the first step towards readiness for Junior School and it allows for a smooth transition for children into full-time schooling at Thomas Hassall Anglican College. We welcome your family to the College and look forward to seeing your child grow and learn in partnership with our community.

Do you have any problems with having four year-olds on the same campus as fifteen or eighteen year-olds?

The College is carefully designed with the safety of all students at top of mind. The Prep program operates in a fully enclosed space, with purpose-built classrooms and their own playground.

Likewise in our Junior School, our K-2 and 3-6 students have serparate play areas.
This physical separation helps ensure younger students are in age-appropriate environments.

Enhanced supervision, clear behaviour expectations, and structured movement around the campus (especially during transitions) help keep all students safe.

When managed well, having older students on campus can benefit younger ones, as they gain role models and mentoring opportunities, such as through shared events, peer support and Year 12 reading to Kindergarten.

How safe is the College?

Thomas Hassall Anglican College prioritises student safety through a comprehensive approach encompassing policies, procedures, and a supportive environment. The College has established a range of policies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students, staff, and other members of the community. These include a Child Safe Policy, Codes of Conduct for students and parents, and Behaviour Management and Bullying Policies. The College also has ICT and mobile phone policies tailored for both Junior and Senior School students to promote a safe learning environment. Additionally, the College has a Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System Policy to ensure a safe physical environment for all.
