Gifted & Talented

Gifted and talented students are exposed to rigorous, relevant and engaging learning opportunities which are drawn from the Australian Curriculum and align with their individual learning needs, strengths, interests and goals.

Our Gifted and Talented Guideline is based on Gagne's Differentiated Model of Giftedness and Talent. Gagne’s model defines giftedness as being very high potential, while talent is the unusually high level of performance achieved after the gift has been built upon through a talent development process. Students can be gifted in one area, or many.

All teachers present a differentiated curriculum to ensure challenging learning occurs throughout all Stages, for all learning. For highly gifted students, subject acceleration in Stage 6 courses is offered through an individualised assessment and demonstration of mastery in Stage 5 content. We also offer telescoped/compressed Mathematics classes for gifted mathematicians, completing the Stage 4 and Stage 5 Mathematics courses within three years, instead of four. We have undertaken a pilot program to offer the same for English in the near future.

We also encourage students to participate in a variety of co-curricular activities to develop their interests and skills, such as Debating, Tournament of Minds, Gateway* and Sporting Gala days.
