Wellbeing Matters

WEDNESDAY 29 AUGUST 2018 @ 1.15PM FOR 1.30PM START FINISH 2.30PM

JUNIOR SCHOOL LIBRARY

From an early age children are expected to deal with challenging life events. Initially some of them respond to this instinctively, but as the challenges become more challenging they can benefit from your support as parents/ grandparents or guardians. They are confronted with having to cope with things like, disappointments, losing a friendship, possibly moving house, losing in a competition, facing stressful events.

YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO ASSIST YOUR CHILD WITH:

· Being confident and taking on personal challenges

· Learn to manage their emotions when they are confronted with challenging tasks/situations

· Capable of operating more independently when faced with challenges

· Build good relationships with peers and adults

Colleen is a clinical psychologist and family therapist who has worked in the counselling industry for over 30 years and we are pleased to announce that she will again make herself available to share what the latest research is saying on this topic and how best we can support our children to develop these essential skills. Colleen will explore these issues as she presents to us how we can both challenge and encourage our children.

Resilience will support your child to deal with current difficulties and also develop skills and habits that could support them to manage changes in adolescence and later in life.
