Assessment is a continuous activity in every subject in every class. Teachers and students accumulate lots of information about the student’s progress. Twice each year (end of Term 2 and end of Term 4) parents are provided with a formal, written report on their child’s progress over the preceding semester. These reports should be retained in a safe place by parents. For students in Prep to Year 6, the report is complemented by a Student Portfolio containing samples of work which illustrate the extent of a student’s mastery of the intended outcomes.
An opportunity is provided for parents to discuss their child’s mid-year and yearly reports with the respective teachers at the beginning of term 3 and the end of term 4.
Parents who fail to attend the mandatory interviews and who do not make alternative arrangements to meet with teachers may be asked to meet in College time with the appropriate Co-ordinators and the Director of Studies. The College considers this reporting to be an important part of its contractual relationship with parents.
