The College provides opportunities for
students to access a range of voluntary programs that will assist them in their
spiritual interest and nurture. There are activities running most lunchtimes
during the week to cater for different ages and levels of interests.
The groups typically would have some high
energy or interactive games, a Bible Talk and an opportunity for discussion and
prayer. Teachers work with student leaders to develop and implement the
program.
Junior School groups are JAM and DIG.
JAM
(Jesus and Me)
JAM is held each Friday in the auditorium.
JAM is for students in Yrs 4-6 and consistently has 70-80 students in
attendance. It consists of a high energy games experience for the first half
where the excitement is palpable. Students then come back to earth to hear a
teacher speak from the Bible and then have the opportunity to think about how
this applies to everyday life. Mr Raft is ably assisted by a team of staff who
attend each week.
DIG
(Deeper into God)
DIG is a new group for our Yr 6ers and is
held each Tuesday lunch time. About 20 students attend each week to grow in their
understanding of God and how that is to affect the way they live at college and
beyond. The background music sets the tone, as do the picnic mats and the
lollies for prizes. Miss Weston is assisted in the running of this group by
some Junior School staff and occasionally senior students. It is also great to see
some of these students attend leadership training and starting to serve in JAM.
Senior School groups are JOLT and JOLT
Leadership Team.
JOLT
JOLT (Jesus Over Lunch Time) runs for
students in Year 7 -12 and is held each Thursday lunch time. Students generally
start with a run around of soccer or a sit and chat with friends. Senior
students lead the meetings and staff share from the Bible and their own lives.
Students also meet in Year groups each second week to share their understanding
and questions from the Bible and how it applies to their lives. 30-35 students attend on average weekly. We look forward to having more outreach events to serve
within the College community.
JOLT
Leadership
The JOLT leadership team consists of 10 of
the more keen and committed Senior School students assisted by a couple of
staff members. Students contribute to the planning and organisation of the JOLT
program and receive training to develop their roles as mentors and leaders. The
students also promote JOLT, assist in the younger groups and run a student
prayer meeting.
J-
CAMP
The newly named J-Camp (Jesus, JAM and
JOLT) is one of the highlights for the year, J-Camp allows students
from Year 4-12 to attend a weekend away where they meet friends across the College Years , have a great time and learn more about God.
